Wrought Iron Bracelet

$50.00

The term “wrought iron” is a misnomer. Real wrought iron has not been commercially produced in over 65 years. When people refer to wrought iron today, they are referring to mild steel or ductile iron. But wrought is highly sought after by blacksmiths because it produces a beautiful wood grain pattern when etched in acid. The only places to find it nowadays are old bridges, water towers, jails and other metal structures that haven’t been scrapped. I recently got my hands on a bit of wrought sourced from old jail bars from a prison in Tallahassee.
